Retreat East

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights mid week in January. We came for a chance to relax and slow down after the hype of Christmas. We found it ticked the boxes in terms of a beautiful space to unwind in front of a beautiful fire surrounded by nature. We can’t fault the service of the retreat itself. The main disappointment was the evening food. The menu is limited, not an issue in itself but if it is small you need make sure it’s varied. This, it was not, 2 of the 5 main dishes contained risotto! A small selection which included 2 beef dishes both costing £40-45 per person with most other mains costing £24 and starters circa £16-17. At those prices you’d expect good food. Sadly, it is was not the case at all, we both felt our dishes were bland and very overpriced. Such a shame as would have come back had it not been for the food.

A slightly delayed review of Retreat East. My wife and I stayed in The Nook for a night and loved it. Our package included spa access and breakfast the next day. We decided to cook in our lodge for the evening. What a slice of paradise. This luxurious retreat is now super popular and I have seen it featured on television several times since our stay. Unfortunately with this popularity, the prices have also increased since we last stayed at what I would consider a reasonable rate. Nevertheless, I would recommend this retreat and spa facilities. The location is nestled in the Suffolk countryside so plenty of walks are available. We also enjoyed a massage each and it was very relaxing. Five stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Second stay at Retreat East for my birthday, we stayed in a lovely 2 bed barn. The property was beautiful, cosy, clean. The staff were fantastic on both stays! Friendly, helpful and really feel like they love what they do! Lovely lady at breakfasts was brilliant, and Josh and Steven for dinner service were great! We will be back xx

Stayed here a few weeks back, for my partners birthday, absolutely loved it! The staff were very welcoming and even put a birthday card and treat inside our cabin which was very nice of them. Couldn’t fault this place the spa facilities were brilliant and the food was excellent very cozy place to stay. Definitely will be coming back. Highly recommended! Thanks again!

We had a wonderful stay at Retreat East. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and very helpful throughout our visit. Our apartment was large, warm, and extremely well equipped, with everything you could need. It included a spacious bathroom, a comfortable bedroom, a living room, a modern kitchen, and the added bonus of private parking right outside the room in the forecourt. Breakfast was excellent, the spa facilities were great, and the grounds are beautiful and perfect for relaxing walks. Overall, a fantastic place to stay and we would happily return.

Fantastic stay! My husband and I stayed here on our wedding night. The staff were really accommodating as we were able to check in late, check out, then come back for lunch and our spa treatments. They were incredible flexible and made the whole day as relaxing as possible. Food is absolutely incredible too. I recommend their Sunday pork roast.

We went just for a meal in the great barn restaurant. Lovely food and great service. We shared our starters, so had half toast with sautéed mushrooms in sauce and half a portion of warm cheese straws. My husband chose the cod loin in butter bean and Ragu sauce, I had chicken supreme, with cheesy leeks and compressed douphanoise potatoes with tenderstem. To follow we had creme brulé with raspberry shortbread. Yum!

Stunning! Wonderful accommodation, excellent food, relaxing treatments and spa facilities - all set in beautiful countryside. Staff struck a great balance of professionalism, friendliness and warmth. Grind coffee machine in the room mentioned on the website was not present, some coat hooks in the room would be useful, and some more teabags would have been great - but this is absolutely pedantry. Retreat East is a special place and we’d be back in a heartbeat!!
